Do you know that feeling when you are looking for a pet supplies shop that has food, accessories and care under one roof and does not come from a big chain but from your own neighbourhood? If you live in Austria, PERRO is a brand that promises exactly that: a pet shop from Austria for dogs, cats, birds and small animals.
We look at who is behind PERRO, what you can get there, what it costs and who the shop is worth it for. We have not tested PERRO ourselves. All information comes from the shop, from Trusted Shops and from studies, checked in October 2026.
Who is behind PERRO?
According to its about us page, PERRO describes itself as an Austrian family business that has been working "for generations" and names over 50,000 customers. According to Trusted Shops, the operator is PERRO GmbH, based in Salzburg-Elsbethen. Besides the online shop, there are twelve PERRO Shops according to the shop overview, almost all in Austria, for example in Villach, Klagenfurt, Salzburg, Vienna and Hard.
A special feature is the veterinary nutrition advice: according to the shop, a vet answers questions from dog and cat owners free of charge. You fill in a form and get a reply within 48 hours on weekdays. At Trusted Shops the shop has 4.79 out of 5 points from around 14,100 reviews (as of 26 October 2026). At hundeo.com PERRO has not yet been tested as a brand.
What does PERRO offer for dogs, cats, birds and small animals?
The shop is divided into three pet worlds, which we look at one by one.
Dogs
For dogs there is dry and wet food, dog flakes, chews, treats, supplements and food bundles, plus accessories such as clothing, collars, leads and harnesses, toys, beds, training, muzzles and transport, as well as care products. A special feature is the dog salon section with care products, accessories and equipment for dog groomers, plus training and further education.
The own lines stand out among the dry foods:
For example Sensitive Care with rice, poultry and lamb (gluten-free), Senior with poultry and fish or Bio Junior with poultry and vegetables for puppies from week 8.
Grain- and gluten-free recipes, such as Adult Kaninchen (rabbit) with only one animal protein source or Adult Lamm Soft as a semi-moist kibble with 18 % moisture.
According to the shop put together by its nutrition advisers: one protein source in several textures, such as beef, lamb, rabbit, horse, goat or insect.
According to the shop, the Sensitiv starter boxes are aimed at sensitive dogs and dogs with allergies. For a real elimination diet, a short test is not enough, though: according to Olivry, Mueller and Prélaud (2015) it should last at least eight weeks and is best planned with your vet. More on this in our guide to dog food for allergies.
Cats
For cats there is dry and wet food, treats, supplements, litter trays and litter, scratching posts, toys, carriers, bowls and drinking fountains, beds, cat flaps and safety nets, as well as collars and harnesses. This is complemented by care and hygiene products and a cat guide.
Birds and small animals
According to the shop, birds and rodents are catered for too: bird food and treats, accessories and care, rodent and small animal food, treats, as well as hay, straw and bedding.
How much does PERRO dog food cost?
The own dry foods cost between around 20 euros and 26 euros in the 2.5 kg bag (as of October 2026). Most varieties also come in 10 kg sacks, but their price was not shown when we checked.
| Variety | Pack (kg) | Price (€) | Price per kg (€) |

For comparison: the grain-free dry food Natural Taste poultry from GranataPet costs 8.75 euros per kilo in the 4 kg bag (as of October 2026), so PERRO is in a similar range. Check the base price per kilo for every product, large sacks are usually cheaper. The starter boxes cost, for example, 38.75 euros (beef) to 70.11 euros (bland diet), according to the shop up to 15 % less than the individual products (as of 26 October 2026).
Who is PERRO worth it for?
PERRO is a good fit for owners in Austria or Germany who want to order food and accessories for several pets in one shop and like buying from an Austrian family business. If you are looking for dog food with a grain-free recipe or a single protein source, you will find own lines and starter boxes in the shop. If you run a dog salon or want to train as a dog groomer, there is a dedicated section for that.
Outside Austria and Germany it gets more expensive: according to the shipping information, shipping below 49 euros costs 5.90 euros in Austria and Germany, to the Netherlands or Belgium, for example, it is only free from 90 euros, and to Switzerland it costs 25 euros plus customs (as of October 2026). Another Austrian shop with a large range is ZooRoyal, more on that in our ZooRoyal Austria review.
