Fressnapf was founded in 1990 by Torsten Toeller in Erkelenz, inspired by American specialist store concepts, and grew rapidly through a franchise system from 1992. Today, the German Fressnapf Holding SE alone runs more than 900 stores. The Austrian Fressnapf Handels GmbH joined in 1997 and now has more than 135 locations.
Under the joint umbrella Fressnapf | Maxi Zoo, the group is represented across Europe with more than 2,800 stores in 15 countries, making it by far the largest omnichannel specialist retailer for pet supplies in Europe.
Own brands at a glance
Alongside well-known third party brands, Fressnapf has built up 16 own brands over the years. These include SELECT GOLD and PREMIERE in the premium segment, REAL NATURE with near natural recipes, AniOne for accessories such as transport boxes and leads, MultiFit as the basic range as well as PetBalance and PetBalance Medica for special dietary needs. These own brands also regularly appear in discount promotions, for example with limited time extra discounts on individual varieties.

Standard shipping costs 2.99 euros and is free from an order value of €49, and delivery usually takes 1 to 3 working days. For very heavy orders over 31 kilos, there is a one-off additional shipping fee of 2.99 euros, because the shipment is then split into several parcels.
If you choose Click & Collect instead and pick up your order in the store, there are no shipping costs at all, and you get personal advice on top.
Fressnapf in Austria: what is different?
In Austria, a lot runs in parallel to Germany: a discount for new customers, a welcome discount via the newsletter as well as Fressnapf Friends and Little Friends, here according to the shop even with up to 15 percent off for the club membership.
